Hello and welcome

My name is Lucy. I am a science teacher, a Londoner and a foodie.

If you meet any of my friends or family they will tell you that I love cooking. My favourite thing is trying out weird and wonderful flavour combinations, perfecting a certain recipe and trying things which may or may not work. This has taken me from the perfect chocolate chip cookies to daring ice cream flavours to even a beetroot and goats' cheesecake (that in particular has gone down in history, and not for good reasons, but every cook has a few mishaps right?!).

My recipes have been tried and tested on many - housemates, friends, colleagues (a lot) and family.

Now, living in London and being naturally stingy I also want this blog to have another side to it. I am no culinary expert, BUT I really do believe that we can eat well without spending loads. Store cupboard ingredients and the freezer are my best friends! I really enjoy thinking up new and exciting ways to use ingredients, and I feel that most recipes (not all, but most) can be made with ingredients from the store cupboard. The recipes that I post here should be able to be adapted to whatever you have in the fridge, freezer or cupboard. There are notes on each recipe to show how you can substitute things to suit what you have to hand. These recipes are here for you to make your own. Try them, tweak them, transform them depending on what you have or what you feel like using. And let me know how it goes! These recipes are simple. Simple ingredients, but creating something beautiful for you.

My rule of thumb: simple ingredients, beautifully crafted.

So that’s a little window into my food thoughts. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Lots of love,

Lucy ..x..
